Founded in 1993 and held annually to honor top service providers in travel and tourism, Wall Street Journal has likened WTA to the “Oscar of the world travel industry”. Therefore, “Asia’s Leading Integrated Tourism Group” is an honor for the group and Vietnam’s tourism industry, as this is the first time a Vietnamese enterprise has won this award.
Mr Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of the Director Board of Sun Group, said: “This is a pride and a very meaningful gift for our Sun Group. This award will surely motivate Sun Group to continue its journey of ‘beautifying our lands’ by providing more classy products and services, contributing to gradually changing and raising the position of Vietnam tourism on the world tourism map”.
Sun World Ba Na Hills – The world’s leading theme park
Sun Group is one of the first few Vietnamese private groups to choose to invest in tourism and entertainment. This is a difficult field, requiring large investment capital but a long payback period.
Founded in Ukraine by patriotic Vietnamese international students in 2007, Sun Group returned to Viet Nam and chose Da Nang as the place to start their business. Launched in Da Nang are Sun World Ba Na Hills – “Vietnam’s Leading Theme Park” (awarded by WTA), Golden Bridge – a famous bridge praised by the world media and visitors, Asia Park, Premier Village Danang resort, Mercure Danang French Village Bana Hills hotel and especially the World’s Leading Luxury Resort for four consecutive years – InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort. So far, the tourism ecosystems of the world-class resort and entertainment program created by the group have brought a fresh change and a new position to many destinations.
Hotel de la Coupole MGallery Sa Pa
In Sa Pa, Sun Group has also contributed to making outstanding changes to the mountain town, with the Fansipan cable car project and Sun World Fansipan Legend, along with the 5-star Hotel de la Coupole MGallery Sa Pa. In three years since the Sa Pa cable car was launched, the total revenue from tourism in this district increased nearly three times, reaching 4,000 billion VND in 2018. That number is ten times higher than it was in 2010. Since 2016, Sapa tourism has grown by an average of 20-30% per year.
“About 7 out of 10 people here have ridden the Fansipan cable car,” said Vuong Trinh Quoc, Chairman of Sa Pa Town People’s Committee.
Quang Ninh is the land processing the complete convergence of Sun Group’s tourism ecosystem, from transport infrastructure for tourism, such as Van Don Airport, Ha Long international passenger port to Ha Long – Van Don and Van Don – Mong Cai Expressway, to Sun World Ha Long, with three large-scale parks providing such diverse games and experiences, along with two resorts: Premier Village Ha Long and Yoko Onsen Quang Hanh. This ecosystem has also contributed significantly to the great success of Quang Ninh Tourism over the years. For example, from 2015 to 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, Quang Ninh tourism witnessed an outstanding growth of 82% in visitors and 346% in revenue.
Yoko Onsen Quang Hanh is actually a really large mineral spring area favoured by nature for its extremely beautiful and majestic surrounding landscape.
Sun Group’s imprint is most clearly shown on Phu Quoc. The Group created nearly 50 projects bringing the South Island a spectacular transformation, with the Mediterranean town looking like a small Italian corner in the heart of Phu Quoc; Hon Thom – the longest cable car in the world, the Sun World Phu Quoc, the lavish JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay and many other luxury resorts such as Sun Premier Village The Eden Bay, Premier Village Phu Quoc resort, Premier Residences Phu Quoc Emerald Bay and Kiss Bridge and Sun Signature Show stage are next.

It is estimated that from 2016, when Sun Group opened JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay on the pearl island, to 2019, before the pandemic, the number of visitors coming to Phu Quoc increased from 1.45 million to 5.1 million, equivalent to a 252% increase. These numbers clearly demonstrate Sun Group’s contribution to bringing new attractiveness and classy appearance to Pearl Island.
Commenting on Sun Group, Mr. Graham Cooke, Chairman of WTA said: “There are very few companies in the world that can own such integrated tourism development like Sun Group actively taking initiative in this field. They self-develop the airport, private port, 5-star hotel chain, luxury resorts, wellness tourism destinations and amusement parks all are remarkable achievements. Sun Group has conquered the world tourism”.

Sun Group deserves to be voted as Asia’s Leading Integrated Tourism Group 2022. I feel very proud of their achievements,” emphasized Mr. Graham Cooke.
With 15 years of contributions to localities experiencing a drastic change in appearance and tourism, the growth of “Asia’s Leading Integrated Tourism Group” Sun Group has also contributed significantly to putting Vietnamese Tourism in a new position.
