The APEC complex in Phu Quoc is a landmark project of great symbolic significance, representing a total investment of VND 21,860 billion. The project comprises three masterpiece components that perfectly blend modern technology with the depth of Vietnamese culture.
The centerpiece is the Convention and Exhibition Center (157,375 m²), featuring the world’s largest pillar-free ballroom (11,050 m²), a 2,000-seat dinner show venue staged by Dragone (Belgium), and a press center capable of accommodating 4,000 journalists.
Adjacent to it stands the 4,030-seat multi-purpose performance center (67,720 m²), designed by leading US firms SOM and Apeiro. The theater features a circular design—symbolizing Heaven—positioned next to the square-shaped Convention Center—symbolizing Earth—thereby embodying the Eastern philosophy of the balance between "Round Heaven and Square Earth." The structure’s exterior is clad in a façade inspired by dragon scales, evoking the legend of "Dragon and Fairy" (the sacred origin story of the Vietnamese people) and the dragon as a symbol of power and sovereignty in Eastern culture. The theater's roof is supported by 50 pillars representing the 50 children who followed their father to the sea, while also evoking the image of a traditional village bamboo grove—a cherished symbol of the Vietnamese countryside.
