An Indian couple have rented an entire five-star resort for four days in the most expensive area of Phu Quoc, Vietnam's biggest island, to hold a wedding ceremony with 350 guests.

The Indian couple's wedding is taking place from Jan. 20 to 23 in the Sunset Town area.

The resort has 234 rooms, suites and villas, with the most expensive being a 7-bedroom villa with prices of VND200 million (US$8,092) per night.

The bride and groom decided to choose the resort for their wedding about six months ago. They flew to Vietnam four times to check locations and evaluate service quality.

The resort was chosen because it has successfully organized many weddings for Indian couples, the representative said. It was also chosen to organize the wedding of an Indian billionaire in 2019.

The Sangeet ceremony (single ceremony) with close friends of the bride and groom was held on the evening of Jan. 21, at the Grand Ballroom of Sun Signature Gallery in the heart of Sunset Town.

The wedding took place on Jan. 22. In the morning, the couple held the Haldi ceremony, the first traditional ceremony in an Indian wedding, at the resort.

Next, they held a Baraat bridal procession from the resort to the wedding venue in Sunset Town by luxury cars.

The main wedding ceremony on Tuesday night will include a spectacular fireworks display.

The wedding brings together Indian culture and indigenous elements of Vietnam, shown through the details of a set of seven giant red-yellow chairs and lotus flowers floating on water, representing Vietnamese culture.

The time of the official wedding ceremony coincides with the sunset in Phu Quoc.

To prepare for lavish parties all night long, the couple brought dozens of professional chefs from India to Phu Quoc and collaborated with the resort's international chef team.

The menu at the party includes dishes from diverse cultures such as Thailand, Vietnam, France, the Mediterranean and India.

India was Vietnam's fastest growing tourism market last year, with Indian visitors increasing by 231% from 2019.
