By developing capabilities across air transport, airport infrastructure, ground handling and in-flight catering, Sun Group has established an integrated operating model that enables closer coordination throughout the aviation value chain. For international airlines, this creates opportunities for collaboration across multiple areas, from route development and operational partnerships to airport service provision, helping facilitate the launch of new air connections.

Sun Group seeks to unlock broader partnership opportunities beyond conventional airline operations.

A defining feature of Sun Group's strategy is the integration of its aviation businesses with its extensive tourism, hospitality and entertainment ecosystem in Phu Quoc and other destinations across Vietnam. This approach enables partners to explore opportunities beyond air services, including stimulating passenger demand, developing market-specific travel products and creating seamless connections between flights and experiences at the destination.

As competition for international air routes increasingly depends on a destination's ability to attract visitors and sustain demand, Sun Group's integrated model aims to enhance value across the entire visitor journey while opening up new avenues for collaboration beyond traditional aviation operations.

The facilities are scheduled to enter operation in 2027, in time to serve APEC. The new T2 terminal is designed to handle 24 million passengers annually. Beyond increasing the airport's capacity to accommodate international flights, the expansion will provide essential infrastructure to support Phu Quoc's long-term development as an international destination.
