“The dark horse is accelerating”
Officially launched on the market in October 2025 and commercially took off from November 2025, Sun PhuQuoc Airways of Sun Group joined the Vietnamese aviation industry at a time when the industry was recording a booming recovery but also facing many challenges regarding costs, fleet, human resources, infrastructure capacity, and increasingly fierce competition in service quality. However, after nearly 1 year of operation, this "newcomer" has shown "formidable strength".

Identification of Sun Phu Quoc Airways' new aircraft
From the milestone of receiving the first aircraft in August 2025, the airline will increase its total fleet to 32 aircraft by the end of this year. Sun Phu Quoc Airways will also soon enhance its long-haul transport capacity with plans to operate wide-body aircraft Airbus A330 in September 2026, along with a billion-dollar contract for 40 Boeing aircraft expected to be delivered from 2031.
On the journey to expand regionally and globally, the airline recently launched a new brand identity with the three characters "SPA" on the fuselage, symbolizing continuous energy movement, the spirit of innovation, and the aspiration to reach further. This identity will become the official design standard for all Sun Phu Quoc Airways aircraft.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways continuously expands international flight network connecting Phu Quoc
The continuous addition of aircraft in a short period demonstrates Sun PhuQuoc Airways' deployment capability and long-term investment commitment in enhancing transportation capacity and expanding global connectivity. For a new airline, this pace requires not only financial potential but also the ability to organize operations, prepare personnel, technical aspects, and service systems capable of keeping up with the growth scale.
Accompanying the fleet expansion is a network that has developed at a remarkable speed. From the hub of Phu Quoc, Sun PhuQuoc Airways has expanded its "spoke routes" connecting the "Jade Island" with major domestic economic and tourist centers including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Hai Phong, while also bringing Phu Quoc to key Asian international markets namely Taiwan & Hong Kong (China), Seoul (South Korea), Singapore, Bangkok (Thailand) and Chengdu (China). The airline is also promoting plans to expand its network to Malaysia, Japan, India, Russia and Kazakhstan.

Recruitment Festival for 1,000 Flight Attendants of Sun Phu Quoc Airways
To serve that ambition, Sun Phu Quoc Airways is preparing a large-scale workforce. With the belief that ultimate service quality always starts with people, the airline is implementing a plan to recruit 1,000 flight attendants to serve its expansion strategy.
Notably, the recruitment program expands opportunities for global candidates. This is a necessary preparation step as Sun PhuQuoc Airways expands into more international markets, where the cabin crew not only need to meet safety standards and operational procedures, but also must have the ability for multicultural communication, understand diverse customer groups, and positively convey the image of a modern, professional, and hospitable Vietnamese airline.

Luxury flight experience aiming for international 5-star standards
Service quality is also built by the airline as a long-term competitive foundation. The positioning of "resort aviation" is materialized with the model of checking in flights directly from the hotel (hotel check-in), the premium lounge Sun Executive Lounge designed like a resort with Vietnamese cuisine curated by artisans and gathering international culinary brands, interiors standardized with "Indochine elegance" with the characteristic La Festa scent, spacious seats using high-quality materials, hot meals served in the style of fine dining restaurants, a wireless entertainment system, and the dedicated service culture "SPArkle".
Expected by the end of 2026, the airline's narrow-body aircraft will complete the upgrade of the Business Class cabin in sync with the Airbus A330 fleet, aiming to bring a consistent experience to international 5-star airline standards on all journeys.
Aviation paves the way for destinations
The acceleration of Sun PhuQuoc Airways is gradually realizing the vision of making Phu Quoc a new regional connectivity hub, where large flows of tourists from all over the world will create a breakthrough for the destination. The difference of Sun PhuQuoc Airways lies in being a “link” in Sun Group's ecosystem. Aviation paves the way for tourist flows to the destination; the resort, entertainment, and leisure ecosystem continues to retain visitors, enhance experiences, and prolong value after each flight.
This direction stems from the very development potential of Phu Quoc. During the period 2015 - 2025, passenger volume via the flight network connecting Phu Quoc increased from 1.41 million passengers to 5.81 million passengers, equivalent to an increase of over 300% in a decade. In regional comparison, this scale is still only about 36% of Phuket and 29% of Bali, indicating that the growth potential of the Pearl Island is still very large.

Within that potential, the model that Sun PhuQuoc Airways is pursuing is closer to a “Destination Hub” - a connection center driven by the destination's appeal. Phu Quoc will be the reason for passengers to choose to stop, stay, experience, and spend.
Therefore, each new route of Sun PhuQuoc Airways will be a new market corridor, bringing Phu Quoc closer to international tourist flows, while opening up more opportunities for trade, investment, and economic exchange. In the context of the APEC 2027 Conference creating a major boost for the infrastructure and international connectivity of the Pearl Island, the role of an airline centered in Phu Quoc becomes even clearer.
From Phu Quoc, Sun PhuQuoc Airways is embarking on a journey greater than entering the aviation market. It is a journey that uses aviation to pave the way for destinations, and also uses the destinations themselves to nurture its flight network. With a young fleet, an extensive flight network, well-trained personnel, and distinctive flight experiences, Vietnam's youngest airline is taking firm steps towards its ambition to "spread its wings" across the international skies.
