On the new route, SPA continues to deliver its “Resort in the Sky” experience, with complimentary checked baggage, a light meal and beverages included in the fare. The airline’s new-generation cabin features wireless inflight entertainment (IFE), while its signature La Festa fragrance originally created for the five-star La Festa Phu Quoc, Curio Collection by Hilton, adds a distinctive sensory touch to the journey.
For passengers departing from Phu Quoc, the experience begins even before boarding, with access to services across the Sun Group ecosystem, including hotel check-in and the premium Sun Executive Lounge.

Passengers receive welcome gifts from the airline
The SPA journey extends beyond the flight through exclusive privileges across Sun Group’s premium hospitality and entertainment ecosystem. By presenting their SPA boarding pass, eligible passengers can receive a complimentary Sun World Hon Thom cable car ticket, enjoy WOW Pass priority access at Sun World Hon Thom, and receive savings of up to 30% at participating Sun Group resorts, restaurants and entertainment venues.

A new link to support two-way travel between Vietnam and Malaysia
Inaugural flight celebrations were held simultaneously at both Phu Quoc and Kuala Lumpur airports. In Kuala Lumpur, Tourism Malaysia hosted activities to welcome the inaugural flight, attended by representatives of the Embassy of Vietnam in Malaysia, while the tourism agency also sent a representative to the event in Phu Quoc.
The celebrations at both ends of the route reflect broader cooperation to strengthen air connectivity, stimulate two-way visitor flows and deepen tourism ties between Vietnam and Malaysia as the country rolls out its Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.

Vietnam welcomed 369,350 Malaysian visitors in the first seven months of 2026, up 21.6% year on year. Passenger traffic from Kuala Lumpur to Phu Quoc alone reached approximately 70,400 during the period, equivalent to 76% of the route’s total volume for the whole of 2025. SPA’s new service gives Malaysian travellers another direct option for reaching Phu Quoc, while also making Kuala Lumpur more accessible to travellers from Vietnam.

Passengers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport
As part of SPA’s hub-and-spoke network strategy centred on Phu Quoc, the Kuala Lumpur–Phu Quoc service adds a direct link to the Malaysian market while creating further opportunities to attract international travellers connecting through Kuala Lumpur to the island.
With a short flight time, Phu Quoc’s dedicated visa-free policy allowing eligible international visitors to stay for up to 30 days, and an increasingly comprehensive tourism and hospitality ecosystem developed by Sun Group, the island is well positioned to attract more visitors from Malaysia and other regional markets.

Kuala Lumpur becomes SPA’s seventh international destination, following Taipei, Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore, Chengdu and Bangkok. The airline plans to expand its fleet to 32 aircraft in 2026, including four Airbus A330 widebody aircraft, laying the groundwork for further expansion into medium- and long-haul markets as it advances its “Rise to the World” strategy.
