The information was announced at a press brief on May 24, held by the Da Nang city authorities and real estate developer Sun Group to provide information on the annual festival.
Accordingly, the festival promises local people and tourists eye-catching fireworks performances on Han River in the central city early this June. The opening night on June 1 will feature performances by host Vietnam and Russia, along with various activities and art performances with the participation of many Vietnamese celebrities.
During the DIFF 2019, the organisers will also offer the public various events, including a gala held at Sun World Ba Na Hills on the evening of May 31, as well as a street festival and a flashmob dance contest.
According to the Organising Committee, Da Nang is ready for the opening night of the festival. Da Nang municipal People’s Committee is implementing a plan to supervise and stabilise the price of services during the DIFF 2019, from May 30 to July 6, to prevent unreasonable price increases and strictly control service business activities in order to protect consumers’ interests.
According to the Da Nang Tourism Department, as of May 2019, the city has 793 accommodation establishments with 35,881 rooms. Most hotels will not increase their prices during the DIFF 2019. For several riverside hotels, with favourable views to enjoy the firework shows, such as Salem Riverside, Blossom City, Vitalis Riverside and Merry Hotels, the prices will increase by roughly 20-40% compared to weekdays, however, hotels will declare their full prices and get approval from the city’s Finance Department for the published prices.
The DIFF 2019 with the theme “Stories by the Rivers” will take place for over a month, from June 1 to July 7, with the participation of eight teams from eight nations, including defending champions Italy, Russia, Brazil, Belgium, Finland, the UK, China and host Vietnam.
The festival will involve five competition nights held over five consecutive weekends with five different themes, including “Origins”, “Buds of life”, “Love”, “Burst of Colours” and “Setting Sail”. The opening ceremony will be held on the evening of June 1, featuring the opening competition between the teams from Vietnam and Russia. Subsequent competition nights will feature ‘battles’ between Brazil and Belgium on June 8, Finland and Italia on June 15, the UK and China on June 22, and the two teams with the best pyrotechnic performances will progress to the grand finale to be held on July 6.
Each contestant will bring to the DIFF 2019 stories of rivers – evidence of history, culture and flow connecting the sources of life of each nation, told by lighting fireworks, music and the sublimation of art and emotion in the Da Nang sky.
